Madagascar is a large island located in the Indian Ocean, facing Mozambique. It is roughly at a distance of 10000 kms from Europe and 3000 kms from South-Africa.
The geographic coordinates are roughly :20 00 S, 47 00 E
With a surface of almost 590000 sq km, it is the fourth largest island in the world. Its population is about 20 million of which half is aged less than 15 years and the growth rate is 3%! This obviously puts a tremendous burden on primary education needs.
